On 18th July, Hailakandi police arrested Jubair Ahmed Talukdar, who was the main accused in the abduction, gangrape and murder of a minor Hindu girl, reported by Hindu Voice.
As per sources, Jubair was arrested from the Dohaliya area of Karimganj district during a raid the previous night. He was absconding since the heinous incident of abduction, gang rape and murder of minor girls in Barnee Bridge of Hailakandi district on the 4th of July.
On that day, two minor Hindu girls were returning from School. Some Muslim youths allegedly dragged them into the forest beside the Roskandi tea garden and gang-raped them. After brutal rape and torture, perpetrators left them there. After some hours, workers of that tea garden found them and rushed them to the local Hospital. As their condition was serious, the on-duty Doctor referred them to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. There one minor girl(14) died.
After this heinous crime, police launched a massive search operation and immediately arrested Jabir Ahmed Barbhuiya and Ansar Uddin Mazumdar. But the main accused Jubair Ahmed Talukdar was absconding. Hailakandi police announced him most wanted and posted his details on the official Facebook page seeking any information about him. At last, the police arrested him.
Although, locals are not happy with this arrest. They demanded an encounter.
